All should have thrown 1 SFG 87 during BMT.
SFG 87
The grenade shall produce at least 1 fragment penetration per m² through 12 mm thick plywood at a radius of 10 m & at least 5 fragments penetrations per m² at a radius of 5 m. The safety radius is 25 m
AFG The grenade is used against frogmen. The watertight pyrotechnic fuze ensures that the grenade detonates at a depth between 3 to 8 m. The safety radius is 30 m. -

how many in here had b4 hang 2 live SFG on you SBO, 2 live inside SBO? those who kana turn out back than have. no one care will it just go off not maybe it so tense that all forget. -

Taiwan Army "bra" grenade pouch. Found this on the Taiwan military forums.
Their new camo uniforms are based on the ERDL pattern as well. -
actually, its never a good idea to hang grenades on your SBO. In a real shooting war, those that "john wayne" their grenades are more at risk of getting killed when the enemy shoot at the grenades, trying to inflict more casualties among your section mates, or the grenade pins can be pulled off by branches when bashing or doing movement. That would mean that you have to tape your grenades. And even that would mean that it would be difficult to remove the tape when needed. The best tape to use is masking tape...easier to remove than black electrical (plastic-type) of tape.
Even in peacetime, grenades on your SBO harness are gonna cause big bruises on your chest when you prone; especially when you are contacted.

Hand grenade is getting more useless except in Fibua and maybe FOFO.
On the field , I will rather have the M203 to do the job than go near and try to lob the grenade into the foxhole. -

actually as mentioned in the previous post, u can bite it off if u "prepare" it before hand...
one thing to note is, u can prepare by twisting the pin catch off, but then your grenade will really be on a hairline trigger... very dangerous...
i like my grenades the way they're meant to be... safe until i twist, pull and lob them...
dun forget... ammunition are "DESIGNED TO KILL" ... and the "STUPIDITY FACTOR" can kill u. anyone remember those 2 titles?

Has anyone thrown more than one live grenade during training?
Has anyone ever thrown a live grenade during company/battalion live firing excercises? For that matter does your unit fire live M203 during live firing? We only fired "curry powder" M203 rounds during live firing.
I have only thrown a live SFG-87 grenade once in my whole life and that was during BMT.
Other times I have thrown smoke grenades, thunderflash and a kind of training grenade which you can screw in a new fuse after use. This is the most realistic thing as it is shaped like a real grenade and has all the levers, safety clips etc. Only used this once during FIBUA.
If you ask me I say SAF grenade throwing and M203 grenadier training is not sufficient. -
Regarding the Taiwanese uniform:
It definitely looks like the SAF pattern.
But what is a potential problem is that the PLA is now wearing a camo that is very similar to the SAF/ROC pattern. What's more, PLA is now converting to a helmet that is shaped like our US-pattern Kevlar helmets.
From a distance, it will be very hard to distinguish between a PLA and a ROC uniform (unless you also see the weapon). And they're both chinese. So if the 2 countries go to war there should be a lot of confusion. -

At SAFINCOS we fired the M203 at targets. During live firing; "you wanna die or what", firing live M203 (not TPT) round, so dangerous. Can only imagine if you had a hang fire, or if you drop a round onto the floor while loading (can you remember the drill?).

Yeah, dropping the M203 40mm round is safe, unless by some freak accident it explodes. Drill? Is there a drill for dropping M203 round?
I'm not M203-trained though I have fired a "curry powder" round b4.
In fact, the M203 round even when fired needs a certain arming distance before it will explode. I can't remember what the distance is - must be about 10m or something.
