If yr cousin share the same surname as u, in chinese we call 'Tang Jie/Mei' (Yr daughters of yr father's brother), then its consider incest. If not, i think its more than okie,i mean, its even rightful for you 2 to get married.

She is from my mother's side of the family.
Erm I talked to her and she feels kinda uneasy too. I told her if anything happens I will take full responsibility for my actions.I'm prepared to face the wrath of my parents and her parents which is my uncle and auntie.

IF ur couz happens to be a blood relations wif u. It will be considered too. For instance, ur father's sister's (ur aunt's) daughter or ur mother's side any couz is still considered incest. becoz they are still first degree couz.
Make it easy.... as long as it's couz that belongs to ur parents' siblings it's incest..

actually i'm oso not against ppls having sex before marriage... diff people have diff perspective towards diff beliefs mahz.. maybe they feel that the time was right, esp when thy r at the stage of deciding marriage.. even if not going to marry soon, if both sides willing, don't think there's much a harm, as long as they understand the consequences and responsibilities...
but as for myself, i'll rather b a virgin and save up for my wedding night... not that i'm conservative or wat... but i juz feel that i'll only have a man.. one and only one.. tat'll be the ideal case.. btu who knoes?

Well, AFAIK, it is not incest. The genes run in the father's side of the family. DNA strands, particularly the X-Y chromosones, are inherited from the father. That's why you normally inherit the bloodtype from your father. There are various combinations of X-Y chromosones as far as I can remember. X-X, X-Y, Y-X and Y-Y. The genetic diseases are also unlikely to be inherited from the mother's family side.
However, due to the fact that some families still have conservative ideas about marriage, such an act is considered incest. But from what I know, this cousin(Biao Mei/Di) marriage thing is already practised as far back as in the Ming Dynasty.
Do correct me if I am wrong. All these are quoted from memory. -

Maybe ur mother's cousin's son or daughter, it's still called biao ge and biao mei. But being ur mother's cousin's daughter, it wun be called incest liaoz. coz no blood relations mahz.. there is no Y-Y chromosome. and X and Y chromosomes are sex chromosomes. got nothing to do with anything =)

Anyway, just shared this with you about my old neighbour if you are serious about getting together. You may need a check up to confrim whether there will be any problem with having children in future.
About my neighbour, I used to grow up and play with this friend of mine, but I guess it was accidental over the years, this friend of mine started dating his own cousin (from the mother's side). Needless to say, there were parental objection especially from hte girl's side as my friend's mum is okay with it so ling as the future generation isn't affected. I do not really know the rest of the detail, except that I think they did the check up and are married with children now (saw them few years ago with their 2 children. I wonder how and whether do you call that incest, where love had blossomed as a normal relationship between to persons, happen to shared the same surname and are known to be cousins.
On the other hand, imagine that another couple who got married and yet share the same surname with no relationship tie to it, what do you think. We were so called related in the past as so called came from the same village of town where everyone shared a common surname. but as generations gone by, our roots and relation has kind of mutated and the genes factor too all seems too remote unless it is from a direct descendent... anyone can clarify on this .. read somethoing about this very long ago in ST. Besides, I also understand in the olden days, some of these people from higher places, in order to especade from the wrath of their enemies/emperor, they shifted to some remote places and change their surname too, like wise, some were given a certain surname as a previllege ... therefore, everyone after that follow the surname.. so it does not means we are not related, am I right to say so? however, best thing, still best o opt for check up to confirm.
I am maintain a neutral position on this matters as I don't really know the term INCEST exist only until last year when I ame across it. I thought it would be perfectly normal, just anohter BGR stuff. Whatever, hope you can sort out this problem -
