Singapore DID had a proposal of a casino strtching back to 1967. However, the government at that time, reject the proposal, because Singapore is still vulnerable to crimes during that year. However although many plans have been submitted for a casino to be built in Singapore, it is, for 35 over years until 2005/06, when the government gave a green light to set up a casino in Sentosa / Marina Bay, to boost its revenue and to encourage foreigners to visit Singapore.
It was exactly planned at Pulau Blakang Mati (Sentosa)
Originally posted by SMB92U:Remember how Lot One's arcade place used to be? it was originally fully covered the whole of level 4. i was young that time, and that place was famous for 'gangsters' and gamer-geeks. then after CDL got replaced by CapitalMall , the whole lot of space was removed, and was pushed to a much organised space located at the same floor. i used to play xbox there and it was great! then that was when CapitalMall (or isit CapitalLand? ) revamped the entire lot of space to make way for NLB. the arcade was then (and currently) moved to the 5th storey; which used to be a rather quiet place then.
It's CapitaMall Trust
Remember how Lot 1 was last time before it was being upgraded
Basement 1 - NTUC FairPrice / Food Junction
Level 1 - SEIYU (now BHG) / Shops (fast food restaurants were located at Level 1)
Level 2 - SEIYU / Shops (Guardian was located at Level 2)
Level 3 - CCK Library / NTUC Income / Popular / SAFE Superstore / Fundazzle
Level 4 - Video Arcade / Cathay Bowl (CCK)
Level 5 - Shaw Lot 1 Cineplex.
Around 1997-99, I still can remember several shops were under rennovation despite the logo change and the layout of the shops. It includes Chip Lee Jewellery, Lee Hwa, Giordano, KFC, Evonne Eu Creations.
Fun dazzle was closed down in 2000.
to bus555: I'm not very sure if Tampines Mart arcade still exists cos i dun normally go there too often.
White Sand used to have an Arcade at the top level (4h floor?) (together with Popular Bookshop). It was closed i think in 2006 or 2007.The whole area of the arcade now is a tution centre. The Popular Bookshop still exist though hehe. Iremember last time go there and play dont know what car/bus/truck game in japan/USA/london etc lol. The arcade and game name forgot.
After that in 2008. White sands opens Zone X and the 3th floor. which is the current arcade in pasir ris

Northpoint underwent major upgrading works to include the Yishun Community Library inside the complex.
Basically, bright students shouldn't frequent 'arcades' too much
