Hi guys,
May I ask you this silly question 'cause I am an expat and I don't know well about Singaporean culture. If a Singaporean man wears a ring on his right ring finger, does it mean he is married/engaged/has a gf?
If it's that for men, the wedding/engagement ring is supposed to wear, not on the right, but the left ring finger, do Singaporean men wear ring on the right ring finger for fashion purpose?
I am confused because there is this man with a ring on his right hand fourth finger one day approaching me to introduce himself and showed his interest in me ever since. And I am very sure he is not a flirty person at all plus the first time he approached me, there were many of our acquaintances around. I surely never have the guts to ask him straight away :(
Appreciate any thoughts. Thanks
it's likely that he's right-handed, so naturally he wears the ring on the ring finger on his right hand.
we wear rings according to western influences and meanings too.
wears a ring to replace my knuckle dusters
you sure its not a gay?
now at which stage liao?
y dont u ask him outright and see how he reacts.
perhaps tts how u can decide how to proceed.....
You could also ask an acquintance to know of his status. Then there's FB as an alternative.

Then more likely to be wore on the left but still depends on the person wearing it?...Oh my, vague...
I wanted to check him out secretly before giving back some signals. I am reluctant to have any other involved, not to mention myself and them are not that close to question about his private life. If the ring he wears does symbolise his marital status, I would then never bother giving it a chance at all.
So, may you please advise straight to my question about wedding ring culture in Singapore, do I have even a slight hope that he might wear it for other reasons, say habitural preference for beauty? haha

If a gay could ever look passionately at a girl, then there would be a possibility haha
I think the best way is to ask him straight, "Why ah, you wear ring on right hand?".
His response will give you 2 inputs. First, exactly why he wears it on the right hand. Secondly, if he fidget, means he like you, if he confidently answer, means he got someone oredy.
Singapore Culture/Values are Local and yet Gobal. So its OK to ask.
Note: If you are satisfied with the first answer, don't waste time, tell him straight in the face you want to spend more time together. Being shy or 'play hard to get', will end up being the loser.
Note: I am Male, married with 2 kids.
For your information: for asian men - they don't care whether they are married or not. A lot of married asian men want to have affairs or a good time.
But give him the benefit of the doubt. He may be single.
THese days I see people wearing rings in their middle finger-pinkie-thumb-fourth finger-index finger. I am confused.
Ok for me - I am making a mental note. Next time when courting ladies - don't wear a ring !
Got married people who don't wear rings as well.

Married men wear ring on the fourth finger of the left hand, married women wear it on the fourth finger of their left hand. If men wear it on their right, meaning still single and available, same goes to women, if they wear it on the left, mean they are still single and waiting for partner.
If all no wear, becareful, mostly are wolves and vampire
no wear what? daykor arh?

Better said than done, as always. I may as well ask him but isn't it true that I will need to pick up the right time. So yeah, why not have your say first :)

omg, affairs? Creepy!! So you mean it could be that a married man even dare to approach another woman in front of their acquaintances? Correct me pls?
And yes, you better off leaving your fingers bare!

Is it all your guess or actuall fact Angel? Sorry no offence but I'm confused with what the others say above o_o
Just to happily update that I've had it confirmed he is still single :)
The ring worn on the right finger does not mean anything.. just a fashion accessory. A person can even wear rings on toes now. Can't expect that to mean anything ya?
Seriously, just ask. Don't assume.
I know a lot of married men who don't even wear a ring, including my own husband
I'm married but I don't wear a ring either.
Just ask casually.
It's not difficult, is it?
I mean i randomly ask stranger what their rings mean also.
Doesnt mean i am interested in them or what
Thank you all :)
Yes I eventually mustered up the courage to ask him and get it answered but have to admit that I was pretty sure my face turned red as asking him such a question...phew
actually no meaning. left hand finger itchy. so wear on right hand.
